Idiom of the week – Kill time

Definition:

do something unimportant while you are waiting for something else to happen

Examples:

I’m not doing anything important. I’m just killing time while I wait.

While he waited in line, he surfed the web on his phone to kill time.

Picture it:

Killing time is not doing something useful or constructive with it.
