Definition:

ignore someone/something; reject someone/something

Examples:

He’s a good friend. I know that he’ll never turn his back on me.
That country turned its back on our recent agreement. They decided not to honor it.

Picture it:

Picture a man turning away from you so that he is no longer facing you and walking away.
